When the virus came rolling through, it wiped out all of my blog postings, which was a little defeating so i stopped for a while. I gotta say though, last night was exciting enough to make me want to share
Through a very lucky connection we are going to get to shoot the album artwork, or at least the next round of it, at one of the coolest locations we’ve found for the sound we are putting out. A club called the Edison.
We went over to scout it out a little bit more thoroughly last night. it’s going to offer some incredible aesthetics for the image we are seeking to create for this music.
Everything is moving along on both the movie and the album, albeit a little more slowly than i’d originally imagined. the design and creation of the packaging, which will be unique, is going to take another month or 2. we’ve had the huge blessing of some people stepping forward wanting to donate and invest in the project which is allowing us to broaden the scope of it. My thanks to all and you will be named soon.
The movie is slow. I’ve never been on a project that has moved like this. It spurts and stops, spurts and stops. We need the new cut, the editor is in another state. One of the actors needs a song done in a different key, etc… It’s interesting. Not particularly stressful, but interesting.
I’m heading out to Colorado for the weekend. Little birthday celebration. Always good to step back from LA for a moment and breathe. i realize i’ve gotten kind of addicted to stress and i’m trying to lay back and let things fall where they may a little more. you can get a lot done by forcing it, but the real details, the part that is the hardest for me, the minutia, fine tuning, mixing, mastering, editing, etc… you can’t force it and hope it to be good.
We are now working with a number of people which means that we are at the mercy of various schedules. When it was just Nina and I in my home studio, the scheduling was every night, work till you blink and realize you’ve been asleep in your chair for an hour. but now seems to be about learning to relax a bit and seeing if the blood pressure falls a bit.
i fooled around and made a little test myspace page. Came out pretty nice i think. The images aren’t final. just some tests to see what things might look like.
back to work. We are trying to decide on a band name. We’ve decided that we’re going to release this album under a different name… not as a Nina Storey solo album. The music is too drastically different for that to make sense. But now, what shall we call it. Nina likes Frankenstorey, which i’m hesitant about as it’s a little cute for our sound i’m afraid. But then, what? String? The Tiny Rented Rooms? The Riots? The Coeds? Rope? All Too Often? Fool? The Number 9s? i don’t know. nothing sticks out to me. We shall see.
Ah, i’m back!
Wow, after a nasty virus wiped out the entirety of my page, but thankfully spared my files, i owe a big thanks to Corey Scott at sound logic media for getting me back up and running. It will be a little while yet as i start to add files back to the site and get music/info back up, so bare with me. This will rise beyond former glories.
